Veterans Day Freebies 2014

If you’re a veteran or active member of the US military, you may be able to get free or discounted goods and services from various companies on Veterans Day (November 11th). However, most of these companies require some form of military ID for verification. Acceptable forms of ID include military ID cards (active, reserve, or retired), current leave and earnings statements, driver’s licenses with veterans designation, photographs in uniform, veterans organization cards, DD214 discharge paperwork, or other forms of identification.

Here are the Veterans Day Freebies for 2014

It’s important to call ahead to verify locations, dates, times, and participation, especially since many of the companies listed are franchises with different policies. For example:

  • 7-Eleven: Veterans, active members of the US military, and their immediate families can get a free small Slurpee drink by showing proof of current or former military service at participating stores.
  • Applebee’s: Military active, retired, and veterans can get a free meal by showing a service retired I.D. card or other proof of service at participating restaurants.
  • Bar Louie: Active duty military members and veterans can get a free meal worth up to $10 and a free non-alcoholic beverage at all locations by showing military ID or proof of service.
  • BD’s Mongolian Grill: Military personnel with valid military ID can get half off stir-fry at participating locations from November 5th to November 11th.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond: US military personnel with ID can get 20% off their entire purchase in-store on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.
  • Big Lots: Active duty, Guard/Reserve, veterans, retirees, and their immediate family members with valid ID can get 10% off their entire purchase. Call ahead to verify.
  • BJ’s Restaurant: Veterans and active duty military can get a free lunch entree or 1-topping mini pizza at dinner.
  • buybuyBABY: US military personnel with ID can get 20% off their entire purchase in-store on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.
  • Cabela’s: US military veterans, active duty military, Guard/Reserves, law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel can get the standard employee discount, which ranges from 5% to 20%, depending on the item.
  • California Pizza Kitchen: Veterans and active military can get a free meal and non-alcoholic beverage by showing valid ID or proof of service.
  • Champs: All veterans and active duty military can get a free burger (excluding the Pepperjack Bacon Stack Burger and The Kobe Burger) on Veterans Day. Check Champps’ Facebook page for more information.
  • Cheeseburger in Paradise: Military personnel with ID or proof of service can get a free meal from a select menu. Beverages and gratuity are not included. Find a location near you.
  • Christmas Tree Shops: US military personnel with ID can get 20% off their entire purchase in-store on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.
  • Chili’s: Veterans and active duty military can get a free entree from 11 am to 5 pm.
  • Delta Sonic: Military veterans and active service men and women can get a free Super Kiss car wash or oil change by telling the cashier or technician that they are active or a veteran of the armed forces at participating locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse (NY), Erie (PA), and Chicago (IL).
  • Denny’s: Military personnel can get free all-you-can-eat pancakes at participating Denny’s locations. Call your local Denny’s for more information.
  • Dollar General: Active-duty military, retirees, veterans, Guard/Reserve, and their immediate family members can get a 10% discount on their entire purchase on Veterans Day. The coupon can be found in the store circular or by asking an employee. It’s also available online with coupon code VETERANSDAY.
  • Face Values Discount Health & Beauty: US military personnel with ID can get 20% off their entire purchase in-store on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.
  • Famous Dave’s: Participating locations are offering different meal deals for the current or retired military on Veterans Day. Check their website for more information.
  • Food Lion: Active and retired military personnel with military ID and MVP card can get 12% off all groceries (some exclusions apply). More information is available online.
  • Fox & Hound and Bailey’s Sports Bar: Veterans and active duty military can get a free item from the 7 under $7 menu at participating locations by showing active military ID, retiree card, or other proof of service.
  • Free Business Cards and Checks: Military personnel can get 25 free checks and 250 free business cards by following the link provided.
  • Free Car Wash: Thousands of car washes around the country are offering veterans a free car wash on Veterans Day. Find a list of participating locations at Grace for Veterans.
  • GameFly: Video game rentals – GameFly offers a free trial for military personnel.
  • Golden Corral: Military active, retired, and veterans can enjoy a free buffet meal at Golden Corral restaurants during their Military Appreciation event, with no proof required. Guests of veterans will have to pay the regular meal price. Hours may vary by location, so it’s best to contact the location you’re planning to attend for specific hours.
  • Grace for Vets: The Grace for Vets Program offers a free carwash to all veterans and military personnel at participating carwash locations in all 50 states. For more information and to find participating carwashes, visit the Grace for Vets website.
  • Great Clips: Customers who come in for a service on November 11th can get a free haircut card to give to their favorite veterans. Veterans can also receive a free haircut or get a free haircut card, which is redeemable until December 31st.
  • Lowe’s Military Discount: Lowe’s Companies, Inc. offers a 10% discount on in-store purchases up to $5,000 to all active, reserve, honorably discharged, and retired military personnel and their immediate family members during the Veterans Day holiday. To qualify, individuals must present a valid military ID or other proof of service. Exclusions apply. The discount is also available daily to active duty military members, but not to veterans.
  • Home Depot Military Discount: The Home Depot offers a 10% discount on purchases of up to $2,000 (for a maximum of $200) to all active duty personnel, reservists, retired military, veterans, and their families in honor of Veterans Day. The discount is available at select Home Depot stores and online and excludes some items. The discount is also available daily to active duty and retirees, but not all veterans.
  • Hooters: Hooters is offering 10 free hot wings to military veterans all day on Veterans Day at participating locations. A drink purchase is required, and individuals must show valid military ID or proof of military service.
  • Hy-Vee: All Hy-Vee supermarkets with in-store dining are offering a free breakfast to veterans on Veterans Day from 7 am to 11 am. Proof of service is required, and individuals should call ahead to verify participation.
  • JCPenney: Veterans, active duty, and family members can receive an extra 20% off in stores from November 6th to 11th with a coupon.
  • Jos. A. Bank: JoS. A. Bank is offering Veterans Day sale orders for one day only
  • Knott’s Berry Farm: Knott’s Berry Farm is offering free admission for veterans and current serving military personnel plus one guest with proper ID presented at the turnstile. Dependent IDs will not be accepted. Plus, purchase up to six additional tickets for just $19.00 each!
  • Krispy Kreme: Veterans and active-duty military can get a free doughnut and small coffee at participating Krispy Kreme stores. Call ahead to verify if your local store is participating.
  • Little Caesars Pizza: Military personnel and veterans can get a free order of Crazy Bread at participating Little Caesars locations with proof of military status/service. Check with your local store to ensure they are participating.
  • Lone Star Steakhouse: All veterans and active duty military personnel can receive a free entrée from the Stars & Stripes Menu with ID verification. Please call ahead to confirm.
  • LongHorn Steakhouse: Veterans and active-duty military members can get a complimentary Texas Tonion and non-alcoholic beverage. Find a location near you on their website.
  • Lowe’s Military Discount: Active, reserve, honorably discharged, and retired military personnel, as well as their immediate family members, can get a 10% discount on in-store U.S. purchases up to $5,000 during Veterans Day holiday at Lowe’s stores. A valid military ID or other proof of service is required. Excluded from the discount are sales via Lowes.com, previous sales, and purchases of services or gift cards. Lowe’s offers this discount daily to active duty military members but not to veterans, though they extend the offer to military veterans on military holidays. Exclusive discounts can also be found at Lowe’s.com.
  • Max & Erma’s: Participating locations are offering military members and veterans a free Best Cheeseburger in America Combo which includes tortilla soup or side Caesar salad, seasoned fries, and chocolate chip cookies. Check for locations.
  • McCormick & Schmick’s: Participating restaurants are offering veterans a complimentary lunch or dinner. Verification of service is required with a retired ID card or DD214. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made through their website.
  • Massage Envy: Participating locations in the Washington DC, Maryland, and northern Virginia region are offering a complimentary 1-hour massage to active military, veterans, and spouses on Veterans Day.
  • Menchie’s: Veterans and active-duty personnel can receive a free 6 oz. frozen yogurt on Veterans Day with a valid ID or while in uniform.
  • National Parks: More than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees will offer fee-free days to all visitors on Veterans Day. Visit one of your national parks on Veterans Day and you won’t be charged an entrance fee. Many national park concessioners are also offering their own special offers to welcome visitors.
  • Netflix: Get a one-month free trial with a coupon code.
  • Olive Garden: Veterans and active-duty military can choose a free meal from a special menu with breadsticks and a choice of soup or salad with proof of service.
  • On The Border: On The Border is running a promotion called “Sizzling Salute to Veterans,” in which they will donate 15% of your purchase to the non-profit military organization, Carry the Load. Veterans and service members who dine at On The Border and present their ID will receive a certificate for a free entree (up to $10) that can only be redeemed at corporate locations.   • Outback Steakhouse: Outback Steakhouse is offering a free Bloomin’ Onion and Coca-Cola to all veterans and active duty military personnel as a way of expressing their appreciation. This offer is available at all Outback locations. Check their website for more information.
  • Paciugo Gelato Caffe: Paciugo Gelato Caffe is thanking our nation’s veterans and troops by offering them a free 12 oz Gelatte on Veterans Day. Military guests must present proof of service.
  • Red Lobster: Red Lobster is offering a free appetizer to veterans on Veterans Day with proof of military ID or service. The selection of appetizers will be limited to a select list. Use their website to find a nearby location.
  • Red Robin: Red Robin is offering a free Red’s Tavern Double and Bottomless Steak Fries to all Red Robin guests with military ID or proof of service. Additionally, Red Robin is partnering with Heinz to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and will be donating $10,000 to the organization. Use their website to find a nearby location.
  • Pirate’s Dinner Adventure: Pirate’s Dinner Adventure is offering free admission to veterans and active military personnel from November 8th to 11th. This offer is valid at their California locations only. Call 866-439-2469 to make a reservation and mention “Veterans Free.”
  • Shoney’s: Shoney’s is thanking America’s heroes by offering them a free Shoney’s All-American Burger on Veterans Day. This offer is valid for all veterans and active-duty military personnel.
  • Sizzler: Sizzler is offering a free 6 oz steak entree to veterans and military personnel with proof of service. The purchase of a second entree is required.
  • Sports Authority: Sports Authority is offering a 15% discount on all purchases to all veterans and military personnel. Visit your local Sports Authority store to take advantage of this offer.
  • Sport Clips: Sport Clips offers a Heroes discount, which includes active and retired military personnel. Call ahead to verify participation. Use their website to find a nearby location.
  • Steve Madden: Steve Madden is doubling its everyday military discount of 15% to 30% off for Veteran’s Day only. This offer is valid in Steve Madden stores only with a form of military identification. It is not valid online and applies to full-priced merchandise only. Use their website to find a nearby store.
  • Subway is offering a free six-inch sub to military veterans at select locations on Veterans Day. Since Subway restaurants are franchises, not all locations may participate, so call ahead to verify.
  • Texas Corral is offering a free entrée (dine-in only) to all active duty members and veterans with ID. Note that all Texas Corral locations offer a 50% discount to active duty police officers, firemen, and military personnel dining in.
  • Texas Roadhouse is offering a free lunch, but the offer may vary by location. Our local Texas Roadhouse, for example, is providing a free meal from opening until 4 pm. Other locations may differ in their offer, hours, or availability. It’s best to call ahead to your local restaurant for more information.
  • T.G.I. Friday’s is giving away free lunch to all US military personnel and veterans. To redeem the offer, you must wear a uniform (if permitted by your service) or present military ID or other proof of service. The offer is only valid at participating locations for anyone with an old or current military ID. Check tgifridays.com for more details.
  • The Olive Garden is offering a free entrée to veterans and active-duty military during regular business hours. You can choose from a special menu, and all entrées come with freshly baked garlic sticks and a choice of soup or salad. This offer is valid in the US and Canada, and proof of service is required.   • Travel Centers of America is providing a free meal to all CDL drivers who are military veterans on Veterans Day. To redeem the offer, you must present a valid ID and eat at participating full-service restaurants.
  • Tucanos Brazilian Grill is offering a complimentary Churrasco meal to all active-duty, reserve, and retired military and veterans. You can also get a 10% discount on the entire bill for veterans and troops who dine with their families from Friday, Nov. 8 through Veterans Day.
  • Twin Peaks is providing a free entrée (up to $10) to service men and women who are veterans or active service personnel with valid ID or proof of service. The offer is available for dine-in only, and gratuity is not included. Check their website for locations.
  • Uno Chicago Grill is offering a free individual pizza or entrée with the purchase of a pizza or entrée of equal or greater value to all active-duty and veterans. No coupon is necessary, but proof of service is required. Find a location near you.
  • Cost Plus World Market is offering 20% off your entire purchase from November 9-11, but the offer is only available in-store. You must present a US military ID at the time of purchase.
